ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said that some political opponents were trying to undermine Pakistan’s economic take-off, fearing their own political demise.
“Our opponents know that if we are successful in implementing our development projects, then their politics is going to liquidate in 2018 by the grace of Allah,” he said while chairing the Cabinet meeting here at the Prime Minister’s House.
The prime minister said that the government had set new standards of transparency in the projects and added that all internal institutions were acknowledging the country’s economic turnaround. He said that an amount of 34 billion dollars reserved for the energy projects, was investments and not loan.
Nawaz expressed the satisfaction over electricity being produced from the locally extracted coal in Thar. He mentioned that from 1999 onwards, the previous governments failed to invest in energy sectors and vowed to successfully eliminate shortage of gas within his tenure.
The cabinet was briefed that Chinese Council had approved 4.5 billion dollars for projects of Sukkar-Multan Motorway and Havelian-Thakot Motorway.
