ISLAMABAD: Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has shown its displeasure over the government officials of Pakistan for repeatedly refusing the scholarship opportunity at the eleventh hour. An official told this scribe that KOICA wrote a letter to the Establishment Division that a government official from the Economic Affair Division Sarah Benazir, refused to travel to Korea on scholarship at the eleventh hour. The agency made all arrangement to provide education to the concerned official but all the efforts went in vain. The above mentioned officer earlier requested to extend the date of the travelling but she later refused to travel to Korea just before the departure date. KOICA is facilitating government officials for providing Master to Phd Level scholarship and training opportunities every year to the Ministry of Health, Planning and Development, Science and Technology, EAD, FBR, Ministry of Commerce and Textile division officials. The agency trained 878 Pakistanis officers from 1993 to 2013 in about 300 Training Courses. It wants the Establishment Division to take action against the said officer but sources stated that the Establishment Division had dumped the agency’s letter and did not take further action against the officer. Sarah Benazir is on deputation from the Establishment Division to the Economic Affairs Division.
